Arai Shoji Presents Donation for 2026 Nepal Flood and Landslide Relief
On August 26, 2026, massive floods and landslides struck Nepal. According to a September 4 announcement by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), more than 84,000 people have been affected, and approximately 43,000 are in need of emergency humanitarian assistance.
In response to this situation, Arai Shoji Co., Ltd. donated 3 million yen to the “Japan Association for the World Food Programme (JAWFP)” to support emergency food aid in the affected areas. In addition, on October 30, 2026, we held a donation presentation ceremony at our Tokyo headquarters.

Since our founding, we have been involved in the “food” sector—an essential part of people’s daily lives—through our food distribution business. Supporting those who have difficulty securing food due to disasters is one of our important initiatives. Furthermore, since Arai Auction, which we operate, has members from Nepal, we made this donation with the hope of contributing, even in a small way, to relief efforts in the affected areas.
At the presentation ceremony, Mr. So Aoki, Executive Director of the Japan Association for the World Food Programme, and Mr. Ryozo Arai, President and CEO of our company, each delivered remarks.

“These floods and landslides have caused extensive damage, including the severing of roads and bridges and the isolation of mountain villages. The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) began providing emergency food assistance immediately after the disaster struck and is delivering food to areas where land transportation is difficult using helicopters and large drones.
Amid this need for emergency assistance, we are deeply grateful to Arai Shoji for their very timely support. Going forward, in addition to emergency food aid, WFP will also work to support the affected people in rebuilding their lives and achieving self-reliance.”

“Through our connections with auction members, I sometimes feel a personal connection to the situation in the disaster-affected areas. I believe it is important not to view disasters merely as news stories, but to understand what kind of support is actually being provided. This marks our fourth round of support, and as a company, we intend to continue providing assistance to the best of our ability.”
Through this announcement about the donation ceremony, we hope to raise awareness among as many people as possible about the current situation in the disaster-stricken areas and the relief activities of WFP, thereby expanding the circle of support. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by this disaster and pray for the swift recovery and reconstruction of the affected areas.
