Arai Auction Launches Standalone Parts Auction for Used Construction Equipment and Truck Parts
Arai Auction, operated by Arai Shoji Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Hiratsuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture; President and CEO: Ryozo Arai), began holding a standalone “Parts Auction” in September 2026, specializing in used parts for construction machinery, trucks, and other vehicles.
In September 2026, the first month of operation, the number of items listed increased by 42.1% year-over-year to 3,397, while the number of
items sold rose by 37.7% to 1,994. By creating a market where parts—which were previously treated as accessories to the vehicles themselves or simply disposed of—can be bought and sold individually, the company aims to promote their reuse .
■ Background of the Independent Launch of the “Parts Auction”
Some used parts for construction machinery and trucks can still be utilized for repairs and refurbishment even after being removed from the main unit. However, since their value varies depending on condition and specifications, and there is insufficient price information for sellers and buyers to reference, there have been challenges in determining purchase prices and securing buyers.
To address this, Arai Auction established a “Parts Corner” within its auto auction approximately seven years ago as a marketplace for these parts, providing opportunities to trade used parts for construction machinery, trucks, and other vehicles. In response to the needs of participating companies and the expanding range of products handled, the Parts Corner has been held as a standalone specialized auction since September 2026.
By creating a specialized marketplace for parts that previously had limited opportunities for individual transactions, we connect sellers and buyers. Furthermore, as transactions accumulate, we are working to build a market where the value of individual parts is assessed and market prices are established.

■ First-Month Results—Listings Up 42.1% Year-Over-Year
In September 2026, compared to the “Parts Corner” results for the same month the previous year, the number of listings increased by 1,006 and the number of completed transactions increased by 546.

[Factors Contributing to Growth]
Through our track record of past events and promotional efforts, awareness has grown that individual parts can be sold separately, leading to an increase in the number of listings. Furthermore, driven by disposal costs and storage burdens, parts manufacturers and others are showing a growing willingness to list surplus parts. On the buyer side, in addition to domestic reuse, there is also demand for procurement aimed at repair and refurbishment overseas. By connecting these domestic and international sellers and buyers, opportunities for trading individual parts are expanding.
■ Trends in Major Product Categories—Increase in Listings of Construction Equipment Parts
Driven by the newly established specialized section for construction machinery parts within “Parts Auction,” listings for attachments such as crushers and buckets are on the rise. In September, the number of attachment listings increased to 839, up from 629 in the same month last year.

■ Future Outlook—Market Development and Expansion of the Distribution of used parts
Going forward, we will expand our product lineup and promote the distribution of surplus inventory and reusable parts by proposing listing opportunities to parts manufacturers and other entities.
At the same time, we will enhance price and parts information based on transaction data to foster a specialized marketplace that is easy to use. Through these initiatives, we will contribute to revitalizing the reusable parts market and promoting the effective use of resources.
[Comment from Takayuki Hori, Deputy Director of the Auction Division, in charge of Parts Auction]

“We’ve received feedback from members listing items saying, ‘Thank you for spotlighting parts,’ and we sense their expectations for us to expand the buying and selling of individual parts as a business. We’ve also heard stories of people who previously declined to sell parts because they didn’t know the market price.”
“Once we can determine, ‘This part is worth about this much,’ it will be easier to move forward with transactions we previously passed on. We hope to work together with our members to increase business opportunities that make the most of the value of these parts.”
