On September 1, 2025 (Japan time), a major earthquake struck Afghanistan.
In response, Arai Shoji Co., Ltd. donated a total of 3,000,000 yen to the certified NPO Japan Association for the World Food Programme (hereinafter referred to as the "Japan WFP Association") to support relief efforts for those affected by the Afghanistan earthquake.
A donation presentation ceremony was held on October 22, 2025. Regarding this donation, Ryozo Arai, President and Representative Director of Arai Shoji Co., Ltd., commented: "Among our members, approximately 170 companies are represented by people of Afghan nationality. For us, this is not something unrelated to our business. Not only customers in Japan, but also customers from overseas are important customers and partners to us. Although our support may be modest, we will continue to provide assistance where we can."
Hajime Aoki, Secretary-General of the Japan WFP Association, also spoke about the current situation in Afghanistan and the ongoing support efforts: "We have received reports that 96% of households affected by this earthquake have lost their sources of food. The United Nations World Food Programme, for which our association serves as the official support contact in Japan, began emergency relief operations on the ground within hours of the earthquake. Food assistance, including ready-to-eat fortified biscuits, was provided to more than 58,000 people." He also expressed his gratitude, saying: "We sincerely thank Arai Shoji for once again providing support, following your assistance for the Myanmar earthquake."
We would like to express our deepest sympathies to all those affected by the Afghanistan earthquake and their families. We sincerely pray for the earliest possible recovery of the affected areas.
