On September 1, 2025 (Japan Standard Time), a major earthquake struck Afghanistan.
In response, Arai Shoji donated a total of 3,000,000 yen to the Certified NPO United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Association (hereinafter referred to as the “UN WFP Association”) as part of its relief efforts for the victims of the Afghanistan earthquake.

In addition, a donation presentation ceremony was held on October 22, 2025. Regarding this donation, Ryozo Arai, President and CEO of our company, commented: “Among our members, there are approximately 170 companies with Afghan nationals. We made this donation because this is not just someone else’s problem—it affects us as well. For us, not only our customers in Japan but also those from abroad are valued customers and partners, so we will continue to provide support, even if it is only a small amount.”

In addition, Mr. Hajime Aoki, Secretary-General of the United Nations WFP Association, stated, “We have received reports that 96 percent of affected households have lost their food sources as a result of this earthquake. The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), for which our association serves as the official support contact, began emergency relief on the ground within hours of the earthquake and provided food assistance—including ready-to-eat fortified biscuits—to more than 58,000 people,” he said, explaining the current situation in Afghanistan and the relief efforts. He also expressed his gratitude, saying, “We would like to thank Arai Shoji for its support on this occasion, following its assistance during the Myanmar earthquake.”

We extend our heartfelt sympathy to all those affected by the recent earthquake in Afghanistan and their families, and we pray for the swiftest possible recovery of the affected areas.
